Why I Picked This Topic

The reason picked this topic is because when I was young and naive my mom gave me an energy drinks before a basketball game and I played the whole game and didn't get tired because I thought it worked immediately but when I got home my mom told me it takes an hour for the "energy" to kick in. Ever since then energy drinks have no effect on me at all because I think it's all a gimmick and it only works as a placebo effect.

Follow up

From where I am now I want to be able to fund money for research to figure out what taurine (a chemical in energy drinks) does to the human body. My question that should be logically examined and research is are energy drinks safe for people to drink when there are things in them that we don't know the side effect to.

The Effects of Taurine

Data Analysis:

I failed to ask questions concerning the survey taker’s age. This had a negative impact on the way I graphed my data. I couldn't be specific, but I was able to get enough data to tell whether or not my hypothesis was correct. In my case my hypothesis was in fact correct. The majority of the people I surveyed, 16 out of 25 to be concise, answered that they were not aware of the effects taurine could do to their bodies, however, they still drank the energy drinks knowing that they consist taurine. Being that I had no demographic based questions in my survey though I was not able to detect any trends or patterns within the 25 completed surveys.

Context

My target audience are older people and teens that use energy drinks. I chose these people because they are the heaviest energy drink users. I'm going to have to give out new surveys because I didn't have a demographic question on my surveys

Hypothesis

I believe that people don't get energy from energy drinks its just a placebo effect just because of the colors of the can and the misleading commercials people are manipulated to think that they work. I think that people are going to rate how much energy they get from energy drinks higher the younger they are.
